Overview
This course covers the requirements of assessing skills and competence within a vocational or work related environment. It is the certificate required for IQA work within accredited qualifications.
Objectives
You will have to complete these Level 4 units to get your qualification:
- Unit 401 Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment – 6 credits
- Unit 402 Internally assure the quality of assessment – 6 credit
Course Structure
Unit 401 is delivered in by workshop and one-to-one support. Following this you will complete a written assignment to cover the underpinning knowledge element of the qualification, and later a professional discussion to end the course
Units 402 is assessed by you collecting evidence, as guided by your tutor, including: Observations by your assessor. This unit assesses a candidate IQA’s competence in assuring the quality of assessment from within an assessment centre or organisation. Primary evidence for the learning outcomes and assessment criteria must come from the candidate IQA monitoring and quality assuring the work of two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates of their own through components of a qualification.
The course will take approximately 6 - 9 months.
On completion
You will achieve a Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, awarded by City & Guilds. This qualification can help you to progress in teaching/training and support roles in a wide range of organisations in the lifelong learning sector.

Costs include lunch, registration and IQA costs, workshop time and one to one support from a qualified assessor throughout your qualification.
